Challenge #110 - "let's leap into action"

Many thanks to everyone who joined in last week and we loved how you used the colours to create your projects. Colour challenges are always good as we each see these colours in different shades making all our results so varied. However there can only be one winner and the lucky person, chosen by Ranom.Org, is . . .

Before we get onto this weeks challenge, we have an announcement. Please give a warm welcome to the newest members of the Fab'n'Funky team:

Judith, Sheila and Judit

We know that they will settle in quickly and we can't wait to see their projects over the next weeks etc. Many thanks to everyone else who applied and we were extremely grateful that you considered joining us and allowing us to mooch around your blogs.
This week we are again sponsored by

who is offering one lucky winner a £10 voucher to spend in the shop

The theme this week is to celebrate the fact that today is 29th February and we are in a Leap Year, so the theme title is
"Let's leap into action"

Please interpret this as you think befitting; from leaping frogs or rabbits, bounding deer or even an action hero "leaping" in to save the day! What about a graceful (or not) dancer leaping into action? Alternatively use a suitable quote as your focal piece . . as always, have fun! Here is what the DT thought suited the theme:

Happy "Leap Year" everyone,

So to compliment our new sponsor this weeks challenge is just that . . . a challenge to challenge you !! So we have called it . .

"Try something new!"

What we would like you to do is try a technique that you either have not tried before or one that is possibly outside your comfort zone. Now this sounds a very daunting challenge but it does not have to be . . . . we promise and here are some examples of things you could do :
  • if you make busy cards NOW make a one layer card or a clean & simple card instead
  • if you are a die hard stamper NOW use a digi image instead
  • use your ink pads in a different way; now is the time to try that technique
  • use a material that you have never used before; flocking, printable acetate, safmat etc
  • if you make girly cards, challenge yourself to make a MALE card!
  • make a different shaped card
  • use a colour you normally shy away from
  • alter a box, picture frame to make a personalised gift
Go on, give it a go - you'll be surprised how much fun you had making your project. Here is what the DT created and don't forget to visit their blogs to find out what their "NEW" thing was . . .

Sharon
(using Mulberry paper tearing)

Anne Marie
(using Cross stitch)

Emma
(using a tissue paper/acetate technique)

Wendy
(Used faux stitching)
 Alexis
(First ever easle card)
Rachel
(used Metal magic)

(tried her hand at digital crafting using MCS)
. . . but now can't upload it . . . aaahhhhhh!

Have to get eldest son to tell me how to save my file as a JPEG or PNG. If anyone else knows, please contact me as have spent ages creating my page! You can leave a very helpful comment over on my blog (or here) as I have also done a big "HELP" shout out there too!!!

So folks, what technique or new material or something else are you going to try?

DT call

Unfortunately Sharon has had to leave us as she is finding things very hard at the moment with her illness. We wish Sharon all the very best and the DT will miss her dreadfully.

This means we are now recruiting 2 new members to the DT and welcome applications from everyone regardless of whether or not you have had previous DT experience. Here is some information regarding the DT position but we promise you will not be working in a pressurised environment as we believe that crafting is FUN!

What do I need to do?
Leave a comment on this post, with a link to your blog and a current email address.

How long is the DT call running for?
The DT call will run from Wednesday 15th February until Tuesday 21st February 2012 , 9pm (GMT).

When will the winners be announced?
The winners will be announced on Wednesday 29th February 2012 and will begin participating in the challenges from Wednesday 7th March 2012.

When do the challenges run?
Our challenges run from Wednesday morning to the following Tuesday, finishing at approximately 10pm.

What will be required of you?
You will need to commit to participate in the weekly challenges using the theme set and any sponsor images provided. Your completed project will need to be uploaded to the Challenge Blog by Tuesday evening ready for the new challenge published on the Wednesday morning. You will also be asked to comment on the challenge entries (which we run on a rota system). Please not that the Fab'n'Funky DT strongly believe that everyone who enters our challenges should receive recognition from the DT for participating as we have a strong and loyal following. Yo will also "host" a challenge one every 10 weeks, where upon you choose the theme for that week and also the Top 3.

Do I need experience?
In a word . . . " NO " ! We just want people who are enthusiastic, love to craft and are up for a challenge! If you are on other DT's that doesn't exclude you either but please do consider your work load when entering our DT Call.

Is there any financial reward?
Again in a simple word . . . " NO " ! We are very lucky however as many of our sponsors do supply us with their images &/or products in the weeks they sponsor.

How are the themes set?
The themes are set by the DT member who is hosting the challenge. We all know which are our weeks up to the end of 2012, so yo will have lots of time to thin of a theme. Sponsorship will have been already sorted for you.

Anything else?
The DT is run as its own mini democracy and everything is openly discussed between us all. Any decisions affecting the challenge blog are agreed and acted upon as a team, so obviously we are looking for team players to join us. So if you are interested, please do have "a go" as you never know.
Now if you have any further questions that have not been covered in this post, please leave a comment below and we will answer your question(s) ASAP.

Good luck everyone and as always, many, many, many thanks for your continued support, enthusiasm and participation in our weekly challenges.
